About Me

I am Mahmoud Ibrahim, an experienced and globally-minded educator specializing in the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. I am certified to teach Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Individuals & Societies (I&S), with extensive experience teaching English and preparing students for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and EST. My expertise includes fostering critical thinking, creativity, and leadership among students while working with diverse populations, including those with special needs. Currently, I teach TOK to IB Diploma students in Bahrain. Throughout my career, I have served as a subject coordinator, English teacher in various educational systems, and an English instructor at the university level. I am proficient in using a wide range of educational tools and technologies and fluent in both English and Arabic.

Teaching Approach

In my classes, I create a dynamic and student-centered learning environment that encourages critical thinking, open-mindedness, and intellectual curiosity. My teaching approach emphasizes active engagement, where students are encouraged to ask questions, participate in discussions, and collaborate on projects. I blend inquiry-based learning with practical applications, ensuring that students can connect theoretical concepts to real-world contexts. In my TOK classes, I place a strong emphasis on preparing students to excel in their exhibitions and essays, which are key components of the IB TOK assessment. I guide students through each step of the process, from understanding the criteria to developing original and thoughtful content. For the TOK exhibition, I help students select and connect objects to their chosen knowledge question, ensuring their analysis demonstrates depth and clarity. My sessions include brainstorming workshops, peer reviews, and one-on-one feedback to refine their ideas and arguments. I also provide exemplars and analyze high-scoring samples with students, helping them understand what is required to achieve top marks. When it comes to the TOK essay, I focus on building strong writing and critical thinking skills. I teach students how to deconstruct the prescribed titles, identify key concepts, and develop well-structured arguments supported by relevant examples from diverse areas of knowledge. Through drafting sessions and individual consultations, I guide students in crafting essays that are analytical, coherent, and reflective of a high level of understanding. In Individuals & Societies (I&S), I focus on building analytical and research skills through the exploration of historical, geographical, and cultural themes. I use a variety of teaching methods, including simulations, collaborative group tasks, and multimedia presentations, to make learning engaging and meaningful. Additionally, I use targeted exercises to improve students' ability to evaluate sources, synthesize ideas, and write in a clear and engaging style. My goal is to equip every student with the tools and confidence they need to articulate their insights effectively and achieve excellent results in their TOK assessments. Across all my sessions, I integrate technology, such as Google Classroom, ManageBac, and interactive Smart Board tools, to enhance learning and streamline communication. I adapt my teaching to cater to different learning styles and abilities, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. My classes are known for being interactive, thought-provoking, and supportive, creating an atmosphere where students feel confident to express their ideas and take intellectual risks.
